Free Basic Edition
We have been experimenting with new services in our labs and wanted to let you see what we came up with: a lite version of Telephone Message Pad. Since "lite" does not sound important enough, our marketing side insists that it be called the "Basic Edition".
The Basic Edition is in part a stripped down implementation of our existing service (herein "Professional Edition"). Here is a comparison of the difference:
At the present time, we do not provide personalization but the pre-requisites are in place now. No personalization means among other things that all fields must be filled in completely by you and the system cannot remember settings from session to session. Again, this is not an issue with the Professional Edition since every message sender is registered. The lack of personalization has another consequence you need to understand. If you should enter an undeliverable destination email address, the message is lost. There is no means to report back to you. Finally regarding fingerprinting, be aware that we are delivering to you a capability of sending email over the internet that does not require registration. Because some may use that capability maliciously (e.g. send spam), we need to retain the ability to shut off your access. The aforementioned fingerprinting is key to our being able to boot users off the service. The fingerprinting transmits your Windows user name (not password!) and machine name to our servers along with a random number. Whatever personal information Internet Explorer routinely sends for any web request is sent to to our server as well. Finally, and not insignificant, anything you enter into the form is also sent to our server. On the other hand, you may find the download's non-standard design a refreshing antidote to cookie-cutter Windows applications. Try it. You do not have to register to download nor pay to use it. If we do end up charging for it, the choice is yours to make and you are under no obligation. |
